Joseph M. Durnford
Mr. Durnford is the Senior Managing Director and CEO of JD Ford & Company. He has over two decades of experience in investment banking, principal investing and corporate strategic planning and has successfully structured, negotiated and completed over $2 billion in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions since founding JD Ford & Company in 1996.
Mr. Durnford has founded and chaired numerous private companies and has served as audit and finance committee chairman for publicly listed corporations. From 1993-1996 Mr. Durnford was a director in charge of investment banking services and Coopers & Lybrand Securities . From 1986-1992 Mr. Durnford was a transaction advisory and entrepreneurial business consultant with Deloitte.
Mr. Durnford is a registered securities principal, holding the Series 24, 27, 7, 63 and 79 licenses as well as the CPA, CVA and CM&AA designations. Mr. Durnford earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Mr. Durnford and his firm have received numerous awards and recognitions, including Deal Maker of the Year in four different sectors, as awarded by the M&A Advisor Magazine. Mr. Durnford was selected as one of the Top 200 Boutique Investment Bankers in the United States in 2012.
David M.V. Barnes
Mr. Barnes is a Managing Director in JD Ford & Company’s Los Angeles office. He has over two decades of experience in investment banking, principal investing and corporate strategic planning. His primary role at JD Ford & Company is new deal generation and marketing.
Before joining JD Ford & Company, Mr. Barnes was a Managing Director for Houlihan Lokey where he was the Co-Head of the Capital Alliance Group. His role at Houlihan Lokey was the creation and development of both the Private Equity Coverage and Hedge Fund Coverage groups.
Previously, Mr. Barnes was a Vice President of strategic planning for Protection One, the world’s second-largest life-safety and property monitoring company, where he was responsible for formulating and executing the company’s strategic direction. At Protection One, he executed more than 50 M&A transactions, joint ventures and asset divestitures.
Mr. Barnes was also a director in charge of investment banking services and Coopers & Lybrand Securities. He also spent three years in principal investing with Brentwood Associates and Hancock Park Associates, two Los-Angeles-based private equity firms that specialize in investing in middle market business and building and growing companies in partnership with talented management teams. He began his career as a corporate finance analyst in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. in both the New York and Los Angeles offices.
Mr. Barnes graduated cum laude with a B.A. in sociology and economics from Harvard University, and earned his M.B.A. from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Mr. Sasakura is Senior Vice President with JD Ford & Company. He joined the firm in 2007 and his primary role is deal execution.
Mr. Sasakura joined the Company as an Analyst and worked his way through the Associate position. While at the firm Mr. Sasakura has performed many finance-related functions, including financial analysis, financial modeling, due diligence, business marketability assessments and business valuations, as well as preparation of M&A marketing documents.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Sasakura worked as a Business Analyst for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he performed business process analysis, evaluating operations, then developing and implementing new business processes and systems to enhance efficiency and management capabilities.
Mr. Sasakura is a Series 7, 79 and Series 63 Registered Representative and a Certified Mergers & Acquisitions Advisor. He has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and Management Science from the Metropolitan State College of Denver, School of Business and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.
Hal Van Hercke
Mr. Van Hercke is a Managing Director with JD Ford & Company.
From 1996 – 2016 Mr. Van Hercke served as a global strategy and deal execution executive with IBM Global Services. He is widely regarded as an expert in mobile infrastructure and data center solutions. From 1992-1996 Mr. Van Hercke founded and built Summit Consulting a technology solutions provider to small and medium businesses. Summit was an Inc. 500 company and was sold to a financial buyer in 1996. From 1988 – 1993 Mr. Van Hercke was a member of Deloitte Consulting, where he specialized in IT Services Transactions. Mr. Van Hercke began his career as a financial analyst at StorageTek.
In addition to his corporate executive background, Mr. Van Hercke has been a serial entrepreneur and founder of numerous successful small businesses.
Mr. Van Hercke earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Colorado in 1987.
